Holly Hunter was an American actress who became famous for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano earned her an Oscar. In her early years her acclaimed actress started playing on stage for several Broadway or Off Broadway productions. Passionate about acting since her school days she played Helen Keller in a play during the 5th grade. The fifth grade was the year that following a bout of mumps, she lost hearing in her left ear. She did not let it stop her from performing. In college she studied theatre as well as later moving from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her goal. Hunter had her Broadway debut due to an accidental conversation with Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. Her first role in film came when she moved to Los Angeles. In the years since, she has been in numerous films and television series and movies throughout a span of more than three decades. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame famous person and she has won Women in Film Lucy Award.
